Learning at WMS
Dear Students and Families,
I am honored to be the Principal of Washington Middle School. I have been part of the VUSD community for the past 14 years, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to be at WMS! The picture above of the open door symbolizes what I have found so far at WMS - that endless possibilities exist for students in our school. Washington Middle School is in unique and fortunate situation. We are a smaller middle school - which allows for strong relationships between teachers/staff and the students. At the same time, we also offer all the activities and elective opportunities of the larger middle schools! Some of the classes and activities that excite me for our students are Art, Band, Choir, Swimming in our own pool, Debate class, ASB (student leadership) and much more!
My first day at WMS was February 13, 2013. In recent weeks, several people have asked me what my favorite part of WMS is so far. That's an easy answer - the students and staff! I was lucky enough to come to a school with friendly, courteous, respectful students, and I found a Staffulty that are student-centered, dedicated to the cause of schooling, and committed to the development of positive relationships with students.
As Principal, I am eager to share the exciting things that happen in our school with others, mainly through social media. We have created Twitter accounts for the school in English and Spanish. We encourage the community to follow us, and to keep abreast of the latest developments and happenings with our school.
For the sake of learning,
Eric J Chagala
